RV Tips - Types of Camping

Whether you are a seasoned RVer or just starting out, understanding the different types of camping available can help you plan the perfect trip. Each option offers a unique experience.

1. Traditional Campgrounds

These are often found in state and national parks, or operated privately. They usually offer a good balance of nature and amenities.

2. Boondocking/Dispersed Camping

Boondocking is camping in a remote location without any hookups or amenities, relying entirely on your RV's self-contained systems (e.g., battery power, water tanks). This is often done on public lands like those managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) or National Forests.

3. Overnight Parking

Sometimes, a quick stop is all you need. Certain retail stores and businesses allow RVers to stay overnight in their parking lots.

4. Full-Hookup RV Resorts

These high-end destinations offer extensive amenities, often rivaling traditional resorts or hotels.
