Keep a Tool Kit Handy
Every RV trip comes with surprises — some good, some mechanical. A well-stocked tool kit can save you time, money, and stress when the unexpected happens.
- RVs combine plumbing, electrical, automotive, and structural systems — something will need attention.
- Being prepared means you can often fix minor issues yourself, even in remote areas.
- Screwdrivers (Phillips & flathead)
- Adjustable wrench
- Pliers (needle nose and regular)
- Socket set
- Allen wrenches
- Multimeter or voltage tester
- Wire cutters/strippers
- Spare fuses and bulbs
- Teflon tape (for water line connections)
- Hose clamps and spare hose washers
- Duct tape
- Zip ties
- Super glue or epoxy
- Sealant or silicone caulk
- Headlamp or flashlight
- Work gloves
- Utility knife
- Level (bubble or digital)
Keep your kit in a labeled, compact container and store it in an easily accessible compartment. Check it before each long trip to restock used items.
